Building in harmony with nature
Building in harmony with nature
The Earth Build Project……..a sustainable future for construction.
The Earth Build Project is a UK multi-stakeholder Co-operative Society developing a pioneering, zero-carbon construction method with minimum impact on the environment.
Combining cutting edge 3D digital technology with a traditional ‘cob’ mix of earth and organic fibre, we are aiming to construct the UKs first 3D printed buildings from the earth on which they stand, trailblazing a new sustainable construction method, and buildings which:
support sustainable, regenerative, local economies and communities
have near ZERO embodied carbon emissions
incorporate innovative green technologies to reduce energy use
are designed for deconstruction
The project addresses the critical need to reduce the amount of embodied carbon in the construction industry.
An active network of researchers and specialists is working together to gather the scientific evidence needed to verify the viability – and commercial scalability – of 3D printing habitable earthen buildings.

Italian digital specialists WASP have designed a large-scale 3D printer specifically to extrude earth-based material. And we have partnered with the Rutland-based Best Little Building Company to be able to deliver bespoke 3D printed earth buildings from our prototype designs.
3D digital technology offers unequalled design opportunities for architects and customers, delivering truly unique earth buildings.

Our 3D printed earth buildings will offer excellent thermal efficiency, incorporating sustainable green technologies which will help to massively reduce energy use for customers.
We also hope to be able to offer innovative biomaterials in our builds, such as building insulation material made out of waste natural fibres, cereal husk, wool, and mycelium, the vegetative root-structure of mushrooms.

London architects, Granit, have designed a series of prototype earth buildings – living and community spaces – that are inherently connected with their environment, bringing proven health and wellbeing benefits.
